Protoss stalkers are swift and deadly. They have been credited with many fantastic powers in recent conflicts. Nevertheless the only one that has been witnessed consistently is the ability to instantly teleport or ‘blink’ from one spot to another. This ability enables stalkers to strike from unexpected quarters, catch a fleeing foe, or escape an unfavorable encounter.

The deadly particle disruptors mounted on the stalker’s carapace are adept at crippling both ground and air targets. Ambushes by groups of stalkers have brought fiery doom upon many attack wings that thought themselves safe from retribution.

Stalkers are good as Anti-Armoured units. They are ambushers and you don’t often see ambushers ambushing lots of fast, weak units. They go for priority targets and take them out as quickly as possible. Immortals are just there to hold the line, not to deal as much damage as possible. They last for much longer than they otherwise would so the damage they’re dealing becomes pretty significant and does not need a bonus.

So how does one defeat and counter Protoss Stalkers? Here are a few strategies and techniques…

• Use your Marines – 3 Marines is 150 Minerals ; 1 Stalker = 125 Minerals 50 Gas. 3 Marines is 135 HP(3×45) and 18 Damage (3×6) Attack Speed: Fast 1 Stalker = 160 HP and 8 Damage, Attack Speed: Normal. Marines attack about twice as fast as Stalkers, so effectively they’ll do 36 damage everytime the stalker does 8 damage. The math speaks for itself. Mass marines will always beat mass stalkers.
• The Marauders – They do 20 damage per attack against armored units, which is 6 damage better than what Stalkers do to them in response. With equal range, however Marauders concussive missiles snare Stalkers, which makes it harder to micro them. They are also cheaper and quicker to produce.
• Siege Tanks – They superior range, firepower and HP against Stalkers and can crash them onsite and on range
