The Protoss Immortals are one of the best Protoss units. So what is the Protoss Immortal in the first place? The Immortal is a new Protoss unit that has two unique features which make it very powerful and effective. Firstly,  it deals massive amounts of damage to any units of the armored class, to which includes most units that take up 2 supplies or more. The Immortal’s shields also absorb large amounts of damage, so the Immortal can withstand a lot of pressure from enemy units.

The only weakness it has is that the Immortal can only attack ground units. Despite this, it is very effective versus any heavy ground troops.

So what are some techniques to counter these Protoss Immortals? Here are a few tips…

• The Marines – They deal less than 10 damage per attack, so this means ignoring the Hardened Shield ability. And they attack really fast, and about twice as fast as Immortals. Morever they are light units, thus Immortals don’t benefit from their huge bonus against them. It takes 3 shots for an immortal to kill a single marine, which is a really bad deal for your Protoss opponent.
• Use the Ghost – As usual, EMP Round turns and makes Immortals into a very vulnerable and expensive units. It can effectively remove all their shields and so thus deactivates their Hardened Shield, making them vulnerable to any heavy attacks from Siege Tanks or Marauders.
• Fly the Banshees – When your Protoss opponent is going Immortal + Zealots and neglecting anti-air, this will teach him a lesson. Try it you will see great results.
• The Reapers – About the same deal as marines, but just not as good, yet still effective.
