The phoenix is a swift and deadly that is rapidly replacing the older scouts and corsairs in the role of fighter for the protoss. Phoenix patrols are a common sight on the outer rim of protoss territory, where they sweep deep for alien threats. The twin ion blaster armament of a phoenix is highly suited to air-to-air combat and can also be used for strafing light ground targets.

But how are you gonna counter and defeat the phoenixes using your terran? Here are some few hints and tips…

• Use Battlecruisers – Battlecruiser is arguably the most heavily armored unit in the game. While not the least and cheaptest option, they are definitely effective in countering the Protoss Phoenixes which are good against light units.
• The Thors – Thors outrange Phoenixes the worst and are also immune to their graviton beam ability. Arguably the easiest best counter.
• Vikings – Don’t believe the in-game unit information, it’s pretty much outdated. Vikings are great against Phoenixes. They do twice as much damage and have a much bigger range. Plus they cannot be affected by Graviton Beam, since they fly.
• Missile Turret – Your opponent is harassing your SCVs with a bunch of Phoenixes? A couple of turrets will quickly solve this.
