“You want a piece of me boy?” , The most famous call out for a marine whenever created in game. Marines are fully equipped with armored suits and a c-14 rifles. Although the marines are fully equipped but they tend to be the very first ones to die in combat. Not to mention, Marines are considered to be the front liners of every battle.

As we all know, every type of unit has its own unique strength and weakness. Terran is such a versatile race because in every game that you play you would end up building more structures of each kind (e.g. barracks, factory, starport , etc) just for you to be able to maintain and sustain good and quick production of Terran units. Marine is a great counter against a protoss player especially when using their Void Ray Rush tactic. However, they are weak against Zerglings and Zealots.

Let us talk about a faster way in navigating through the game and controlling your units in an easier way too. It is called Macro or Macroing. It is a term used in game wherein you assign a letter or a number on the keyboard to command a specific unit or structure. Macroing is also known as using your hot keys. When you get to master this, you will be able to build your base, commanding your units, attacking your opponent or even retreating from battle conveniently and rapidly. Which will have you ahead of your enemy. It might take a while in mastering hot keys and macroing but rest assured, this will be a great help for you up against a good player too.

As a Terran Player, you must have at least an SCV on training que in your command center. Through this you will be able to gather minerals faster and expand your base effectively. Let us say you would use Hot key 1 for your Command Center (a.k.a CC). So whenever your want to train a new SCV, all you need to do is press the number 1 on your keyboard. No need for you to use your mouse and click on the SCV unit. You can use any key. Just find the most comfortable hot key for you.

Now lets talk about Strategies with Marine units. One common tactic is the Marine Rush. This is an early harass attack on your opponent. When you already have about 2 tanks, have your marines group with them and try to be in position just right outside your opponent’s base. From time to time draw your tanks closer and protect your tanks by surrounding it with your marines. When you have enough numbers of marines, then you are all set for the Marine Rush Attack.

Always remember that whatever race your are using, it has advantages and disadvantages. Use those strengths to your advantage against your enemy. Secondly, the macro tactic is also very helpful in playing the game. It might take awhile for you to master it , but then again once you have mastered it, you will be able to play the game smoothly.
