In the strategic game, Starcraft 2, every unit has its best counter. In  this article, this will guide you as detailed as possible in winning against Protoss Void Rays.

Terran players find Void Rays extremely annoying and if you won’t prepare for it, it will be a big flat loss. Whenever a Void Ray intrudes your base you will need the following units to be able to counter it. First, Vikings are a great pick. They do 24 damage per attack on Void Rays. Plus, with their +4 damage bonus against armored units. Last thing about Vikings, they are much cheaper and fast paced. Another unit that you can use against Void rays are the Marines. It is a great counter against Void Rays since it is able to shoot down the latter easily and Void Rays wont be able to do a lot of damage in return to the Marines. Marines are easily taken down by stalkers and zealots. So, you have to be prepared when these units are around too. Last but not the least, Missile Turrets do a lot of damage of 28 per round of attack on Void Rays. They have quick attacks and have a +7 damage bonus against armored units. Just a tip, Void Rays gets to destroy buildings quickly, so you will really need a number of turrets to be effective and win against Void Rays.  I would suggest to have two or three Turrets placed side by side. For me, Vikings and Marines are better. If you have spare minerals, you can go ahead and crate turrets so that you will have a good defense on your base while your army is on the move.

Another combat strategy is to have a bunker in front and a number of marines so that you will be able to hold off any kind of early attack by your opponent.

You must not forget that when you are about to push out to attack your enemy, you must have at least four or five Marines in your base. One of the most common strategy of Protoss that they use is for them to wait for their enemy’s army to attack and they attack your base from behind using a number of Void Rays. This, of course, can destroy your base quickly and it will be hard for you to reinforce your army. By leaving a small number of marines behind your base, you can easily counter attack any discreet attacks by your opponent so long as your are also paying attention on your base while you are attacking your opponent.

Void Rays may be annoying when handled by a very good, strategic player of Protoss but when you prepare for those counter attacks against Void Rays, you surely won’t lose in the game. Just keep in mind that you need to have a good defense too while you are in the offensive side and vice versa. This will keep you standing until you annihilate your enemy.
