Best Counters To Archon With Terran – Shokz Starcraft 2 Strategies Guide To Counter Archons

When you are playing Terran and you are going against Protoss, you need to focus more on the quality of your enemy’s units rather than the quantity. Unlike Zergs who can afford to throw hordes of low cost, low quality units at you, Protoss units do not usually come in droves. You can almost say that, if you are going against Protoss and you are playing Terran, you are in for a long game. That being said, you still need to be prepared for Protoss rushes. However, if you see Archon units in your enemy line up, you have usually spent quite a bit of time on the map, allowing your opponents time to build up his resources and tech-tree. If you are in this spot, you better be ready to repel some highly tactical Protoss attacks.

;

First thing’s first, if you plan to engage Archons, you need to know their strengths and weaknesses.

;

The most important thing you need to consider if you are looking at the Archon’s offensive capabilities is that it carries plus damage against biological units. This makes them perfect weapons against the Zerg. Against the Terrans, not so much. As long as you remember to keep a careful eye on your biological units, such as your Marines, against a Protoss onslaught with Archon units in tow, you should be good to go.

;

Other offensive details to remember about Archons: they are able to attack both air and ground units and their attacks do splash damage. Splash damage attacks are quite a pain when your Terran units are in a bunch so, spread out! Archons are also range attackers and a smart Protoss player would do well to place Zealot melee units in front with Archon support units at the back. Prepare for this eventuality.

;

Defensively, Archons have zero armor but have tough shields. They also have relatively low HP’s. Thus, if you can get through that shield quickly, you will have a dead Archon in seconds.

;

When attacking Archons, your best bet is to use mechanical units such as your Thors or Siege Tanks. Siege Tanks have massive HP and deal considerable damage. They are the perfect units to stand toe to toe against Archons. Thors are also tough Terran units, though not as tough as Siege Tanks. You should probably use their 250mm Strike Cannon ability. This can stun Archon units and even kill them before they can even make any impact on the field.

;

Attacking Archons with Thors or Siege Tanks may sound easy but dealing with an attack made up of purely Archon units are rare – unless your opponent has an I.Q. of 20 or is suicidal. If you see an Archon coming your way, you would most likely be seeing them accompanied with other Protoss units as well, most likely Zealots. You don’t want those Zealots sticking holes into your Siege Tanks and Thors while they deal with your enemy’s Archon units.

;

The key here is speed. You want to kill those Archon units as quickly as possible. Since Archons invest heavily on their shields, you can make mince meat out of them easily by using EMP blasts. Therefore, invest on a few Ghost units to EMP blast an Archon attack and drop their shields down to zero. Once that’s done, you can make short work of those Archon units and move on to the next Protoss attackers.

Best Terran Strategy To Counter High Templar – Shokz Starcraft 2 Anti-Templars & Counters

The Protoss High Templar Unit is focused mainly on creating psionic attacks – similar to spell casting in Warcraft – rather than on conventional attacks. They are neither melee nor range attackers. The main attacks of the Protoss High Templar are psionic attacks and are area-of-effect attacks as well. Skilled Protoss players use the High Templar as support units for their other units carrying more conventional attacks. Additionally, High Templars can also be very devastating and are often a potent counter to the Terran Ghost unit.

;

Although Protoss High Templars are quite considerable in the battle field as damage dealing units, they are not very well equipped when it comes to defense. It is basically suicide for High Templars to take to the field on their own and they are usually used as support units where their talents are best used. Thus, when you see High Templars attacking, they are usually accompanied by a number of other Protoss units.

;

As a Terran player, the best counter against a Protoss High Templar is the Terran Ghost. The EMP attack of the Ghost completely drains the energy and shield of a Protoss High Templar. This is important because, with enough energy, a High Templar can cast Feedback on a Terran Ghost, causing both energy depletion and damage dealing. Feedback deals one damage to the Ghost per unit of energy depleted. This can certainly complicate things, especially if the Ghost is not in great shape to begin with.

;

If the Terran Ghost is able to successfully EMP a Protoss High Templar, two normal attacks from the Ghost – dealing 20 damage per attack – ought to remove the High Templar from the field of battle.

;

If, however you do not have a Ghost unit handy and you need to take care of a High Templar, do not make the mistake of sending in your Marines. High Templars are especially good at dispatching Marines en masse using ther Psionic Storm. If you want to attack with a unit other than a Ghost, your best bet is the Hellion. Terran Hellions are very mobile, allowing them to get out of the way of High Templar attacks. Remember to scatter your units if a Psionic Storm is cast. A Terran Hellion is also carrying enough HP to survive a Psionic Storm. If their HP is already depleted at the outset however, chances are high that you are going to lose your Hellion unit.

Best Counter Carrier with Terran – How to Stop Carriers Shokz Starcraft 2 Terran Strategies

Facing against a Protoss player while using Terran yourself means you will have to do a lot of micromanaging over your resources. Starcraft II Terran units have changed significantly from Starcraft I. For instance, you don’t have the option of blocking escape routes with Vulture mines as they are no longer available. This means doing a pincer attack is going to be much more difficult for you. On the other hand, the land battle dominator of the Terrans, the Siege Tank, have been beefed up significantly. They now fire faster than they did back in Starcraft I – but they cost much more.

;

Protoss units, on the other hand, have largely remained the same. Most tactics that used to work with Protoss back in Starcraft I are still viable in Starcraft II. Protoss units have always been focused more on the capabilities of the individual units rather than on mass attacks. While each unit is a bit more expensive, they are also tougher and they carry shields too. Fortunately, the more powerful Protoss units usually come out at mid to end game. One such unit is the Protoss Carrier.

;

Protoss Carriers are one of the most devastating units a Terran can face up against. The main carriers themselves have a whopping 300 HP with 150 Shields. They carry 8 interceptors each with each interceptor capable of dealing 10 damage to both air and ground Terran units. That means, a Protoss Carrier busy with its job can deal a total of 80 damage.

;

The best way to deal with an attack consisting of Protoss Carriers is to go for range and power. If you are talking about power, the best Terran unit to use is the Viking. The Terran Viking deals 28 damage for every round of attack against units with armor. Aside from their devastating attacks, Vikings are also very fast units. So, once you detect an incoming Protoss Carrier attack, you can quickly deploy and meet them before they get to your main attack force or your base. Of course, with their speed, they can run away quickly once things get too hot.

;

Aside from Vikings, the Terran Thor can also deal with Protoss Carriers, though not as well as Vikings can. Thors have incredible range and they also cause considerable damage to air units. This makes them perfect for engaging Protoss Carriers who are on the approach but have not yet deployed their interceptors.

;

When your play is getting desperate, you can go for a “better than nothing” attack against Protoss Carriers. You can use Terran Marines to do some damage dealing with Protoss Carriers, though they will not be doing much of it unless there are several of them. The slaughter against them is going to be terrible though, so you had best prepare several Marine units if you plan to take on Protoss Carriers this way.

;

Whether you use your Vikings, your Thors or your Marines against a Protoss Carrier, you can make your job a lot easier – by a factor of 10 – if you use a Ghost EMP round first. EMP’s will drop the shields of the Carrier and your main damage dealers can then take it down much faster.

Shokz Effective Terran Counter vs Interceptors – Starcraft 2 Strategies Guide on How to Stop Interceptor

In every game that we play needs a strategy to be able to win and gain control over your opponent. It is very important to know each and every unit and building being used by your opponent. Its usage, weak point, advantages and disadvantages. That is why, part of this article, I’ve discussed what are the specifics for the Protoss unit, Interceptors to be able to know how to bring down such unit.

;

First off, Interceptors, which are created by carriers for both defense and offense purposes. Carriers don’t have the ability to fight back. So, they use Interceptors. Each Carrier can have eight interceptors only. They use Interceptor Beams as their weapon. It has an attack damage of 5 but with an additional of + for every weapon level upgrade. It can attack on both Ground and in the air with a range of 2 and with a speed of 3 which is very slow. There are upgrades available which are Air Weapons which requires Cybernetics Core for level 1 upgrade and Fleet Beacon on the second level upgrade. In addition to this, air weapon upgrade also upgrades motherships, phoenix, and void ray. Air weapons are used increase attack damage for air units of Protoss. Secondly, Air armor Upgrade can increase armor defense. It needs the same requirement for both level 1 and level 2 upgrade with Air Weapon. Last but not the least, Protoss uses this to increase defense system on their shields and buildings and this is called Plasma Shields. It requires a Forge for level 1 upgrade and a Twilight Council for the second level.

;

Interceptors are attached to Carriers and they literally do the fighting for their Carriers. These Interceptors can be commanded to attack up to a certain distance from the Carriers. To counter the Protoss Interceptors and avoid causing heavy damage to Terran units, there are actually a number of ways. A common strategy is to prioritize the use of Vikings. This is commonly regarded as the the top choice in countering Carrier units with their load of Interceptors which can be really be an annoying unit to fight against. Capable of inflicting 28 damage per round of attack against armored units coupled with their superior speed, Vikings are hands down, the number one option. Second best would be Thors, which are known for their range capabilities and their capacity to cause heavy damage against air units. Although they come second, Thors will still be levels below the capacity to inflict damage as compared to Vikings. Third in line would be the Marines. Although they are not so great and of course not what you would normally want to pit against carriers, they can still stand their ground and if they have the advantage in numbers, they can be relied on to face seemingly insurmountable odds. Obviously, they are not considered as the first line of defense for nothing.

;

It is very important to be very knowledgeable with the character you are playing and to know the weakness and strengths of your enemy for you to be able to win the battle. Again, always be on guard as well and never leave your base unguarded. You will never know what your opponent is up to.

Top Terran Counter to Warp Prism – Shokz Starcraft 2 Strategies to Countering, Anti-Warp Prism Units

Just a little background on Protoss and its Warp Prism. Protoss have created a Robotic Mind wherein it is programmed with the use of an advance crystal lattice. This is a crystal computer that is able to manipulate both matter and energy that no ordinary mind can comprehend. About a paragraph below shows how Terran should handle warp prism.

;

Talking about Protoss, they use Warp Prisms in many ways. Its primary function is to transport Protoss army units on a certain location in the map. Transformation of energy is possible with Warp Prisms, and the prism’s crystal lattice core has its own unique signature imprinted on it. When they reached their desired destination, reversal of operation Is then activated then the stored energy signatures are then reconfigured into matter in proximity to the Warp Prism. In addition to this, Warp Prisms are flying units like the Shuttle. When on Phase Mode, These Warp Prisms get to act as a mobile for the Protoss matrix. Phasing Mode is the secondary function of the Warp Prism. Once it is deployed it is able to empower Protoss structures built around it. So, this is the most tricky part of the Warp Prisms. It may look like it is only sitting around the corner of the map but it has the capability to switch to the Phasing Modem to be able to warp-in reinforcements behind the opponent’s base. Moreover, there are around three types of upgrades on Warp Prisms namely – Ground Armor 1-3, which is an upgrade on defense for Protoss that enhances armor capabilities. Second type of upgrade available for Warp Prisms is Plasma Shields 1-3 , which is also an upgrade for defense that enhances the armor rating on sheilds and Protoss buildings. Last but not the least is the Gravitic Drive Upgrade wherein the movement speed of Warp Prisms increases. Another thing, it is not that expensive. It only costs 200 minerals and it has a lot of functions. In addition to its functions that I have previously mentions it also regenerates shields, which means that it no longer needs repair. It can also be use for emergency cases in powering of buildings whenever pylons get sniped. On the succeeding paragraphs, more detailed information will be discussed as to how to counter attack Warp Prisms as a Terran player.

;

There are top two Terran units which are great against Warp Prisms and these are Vikings and Missile Turrets. Vikings can kill the so-called tranporters really quick and they are able to chase them easily. For Missile Turrets, they are best around your minerals. Whenever your opponents strategically drops Immortals on your economy, you won’t get to worry in killing those Immortals since you already have counter units for them.

;

Knowing the background on Protoss Warp Prisms, you should be able to know or think on some strategies to be able to counter attack them. In order for you to win over a Protoss player that uses Warp Prisms as his strategy, you need to firstly scout from time to time for any of his units around your base, especially Warp Prisms , which he can use to attack you from behind. Always remember, whenever you see these near your base, you have to send out some of your army to destroy this since this can teleport or even transport your opponent’s army. But, always leave a number of your units behind the base because this might be just a strategy for you to carry on all your army and then he brings out another group of his army from another side. All you need to do is stay sharp and be alert and you should be able to win over Protoss.

Countering Void Rays as Terran – Shokz SC2 How To Counter Protoss Void Rays with Terran Strategies Guide

In the strategic game, Starcraft 2, every unit has its best counter. In  this article, this will guide you as detailed as possible in winning against Protoss Void Rays.
;
Terran players find Void Rays extremely annoying and if you won’t prepare for it, it will be a big flat loss. Whenever a Void Ray intrudes your base you will need the following units to be able to counter it. First, Vikings are a great pick. They do 24 damage per attack on Void Rays. Plus, with their +4 damage bonus against armored units. Last thing about Vikings, they are much cheaper and fast paced. Another unit that you can use against Void rays are the Marines. It is a great counter against Void Rays since it is able to shoot down the latter easily and Void Rays wont be able to do a lot of damage in return to the Marines. Marines are easily taken down by stalkers and zealots. So, you have to be prepared when these units are around too. Last but not the least, Missile Turrets do a lot of damage of 28 per round of attack on Void Rays. They have quick attacks and have a +7 damage bonus against armored units. Just a tip, Void Rays gets to destroy buildings quickly, so you will really need a number of turrets to be effective and win against Void Rays.  I would suggest to have two or three Turrets placed side by side. For me, Vikings and Marines are better. If you have spare minerals, you can go ahead and crate turrets so that you will have a good defense on your base while your army is on the move.
;
Another combat strategy is to have a bunker in front and a number of marines so that you will be able to hold off any kind of early attack by your opponent.
;
You must not forget that when you are about to push out to attack your enemy, you must have at least four or five Marines in your base. One of the most common strategy of Protoss that they use is for them to wait for their enemy’s army to attack and they attack your base from behind using a number of Void Rays. This, of course, can destroy your base quickly and it will be hard for you to reinforce your army. By leaving a small number of marines behind your base, you can easily counter attack any discreet attacks by your opponent so long as your are also paying attention on your base while you are attacking your opponent.
;
Void Rays may be annoying when handled by a very good, strategic player of Protoss but when you prepare for those counter attacks against Void Rays, you surely won’t lose in the game. Just keep in mind that you need to have a good defense too while you are in the offensive side and vice versa. This will keep you standing until you annihilate your enemy.

Common Terran Strategies vs Protoss in SC2 – Shokz Starcraft 2 Terran Strategy Guide to Beat Protoss

In this article, I will be talking about Terran strategies in battling against a Protoss player. I should say that Terran and Protoss match up is quite difficult. So,  you will need every advantage that you can get especially a Protoss player has a lot of ways to be able to do an early base attack and one of the ways is through their warp capabilities and is one of their greatest advantages. Here are some strategies that are very effective for you to survive in the game.
;
There are a lot of options available and strategies for Terran Players. One of the most basic Terran strategy is called Forcing Units. Terran has a lot of units that you can take advantage of against your opponent and you just have to know how to use this to be able to let your enemy get into building a certain unit that you can easily counter attack. With this strategic game, obviously, you will need to have a strategy on how to gain control of the game. I would suggest to always be on the offensive side. You need to force your enemy in doing counter attacks on your units. For you to be able take advantage of this, use an early force to attack and the goal here to have your opponent on defense mode. You may start with having a Marauder. Usually, Protoss players will automatically get stalkers to avoid early Reaper attacks. Even if the Marauder push won’t be successful, your enemy will still find ways to be able to counter your marauders and leading him to get zealots as well as immortals since these are the only units best in killing marauders. After your first charge, you need a Marine and Hellion force. Next thing you have to do is annihilate your opponent’s army since they won’t have enough stalkers and only have a few immortals plus a few remaining light units which will be no match for the opponent’s attacking force.
;
There is also what we called the Factory Drop Tactic. This is a strategy for Terran players who wants to bring down opponent’s mineral line and beat down his economy. Firstly, build a Factory close enough to your enemy’s base and discreetly move it at the back of his base where it’s unseen. Nextly, build a few hellions and start killing off his mineral line workers right away. This would work best with the maps that you and your opponent are in close positions like the maps of Metalopolos, Lost Temple, Scrap Station, etc. Just a tip, make sure that when you move your Factory behind your opponent’s base, it is unseen especially with xel’naga watch towers and away from scouting lines as well. I would suggest in putting a wall on your base since you will be doing an early defense for you to be able to do an early attack on your opponent. Build your base like normal with barracks and when you have reached 100 gas, send out your SCV for you to start the factory. After this, have a bunker to hold off early attacks. You will need to set up some defense for security purposes. Make sure that from time to time you are scouting your opponent especially where his buildings are positioned. When you factory is done, lift it off and move it to his base. Place it in a spot close enough but is not to be seen. As it lands, build hellions right away at least three before you finally reveal your location. Three hellions are the best number to have, this will kill any unit they send out to you. If you are just able to defend your base, you will surely win this game.
;
There are a lot of strategies that a Terran player can use to win against a Protoss player. The strategies mentioned above are the most commonly used. The most important thing in playing a strategic game like this is to be able to build fast, strong defense side and be able to quickly annihilate your opponent before they take you out.

How to Counter Protoss Dark Templars with Terran – Best Starcraft 2 Terran Strategies Shokz Guide

The cloaking abilities of the Protoss Dark Templars are very effective against ground units. Most especially when they can build really quickly and warp in their enemies backdoors and crush them. Their forge cannons can create pretty good defense back home. Many Protoss players can beat you if you don’t know how to counter their dark templar rush most especially if you are a terran player. Even if you have legions of marines, just one dark templar can kill them all just because the terran marines cannot see them.

So how does one Terran player prepare and destroy any Protoss enemy who is using the dark templars rush to annihilate him?

Here are some few tips…

  • The Ravens – They can definitely detect the dark templars in movement. Then sweep them off upon attack.
  • Position Missile Turrets – You can build missile turrents which can detect the dark templars as well. Build them near or in the entrance of your base.
  • Deploy Orbital Command- Protoss Dark Templars aren’t very resilient, one quick scan and they should die fast before the scan effect wears off.
  • Use the Ghosts – EMP Round reveals them for a short period of time, and also removes their entire shields. With only 40 HP left, they should be quickly dealt with before they become cloaked again. A great counter if you don’t have a Raven.

Those are just a few of techniques discussed in this guide on how to counter Protoss Dark templars using your own Terran units. But there are more advanced and more up to date strategies and techniques found in this guide..

How to Counter the Protoss Sentry – Starcraft 2 Terran Strategies

The Protoss Sentry is also one of the best Protoss units. The Sentry has two special abilities which make it so powerful and effective.

The Sentry’s Force Field ability creates a divider on the ground which prevents ground units from moving over it. This can be employed to prevent enemy troops from reaching your powerful units, like the Colossus, splitting up enemy troops such as placing a line of Force Fields in the middle of an enemy army, effectively dividing it, or preventing enemy units from running from slower ground units.

The Protoss Sentry has also the ability called the Guardian Shield which reduces incoming damage from enemy ranged attacks by four. This significantly reduces the power of all enemy air and ranged ground units.

The Sentries with some Stalkers form a powerful anti-air force, and Sentries with the Immortal and Colossus can take out ground armies effectively.

So how do you counter the Protoss Sentries using Terran? Here are a few techniques and tips…

  • Fly the Banshee – During big fights, Banshee will easily fly over the front line and deal with sentries swiftly before they get a chance to turn the tide of battle with Guardian Shield and Force Field.
  • Use the Ghost – Just one EMP Round and the sentry is going to be as weak as a single marine, despite costing so much gas. EMP Round will destroy the Sentries’ shield, and also drain its energy down to zero. That is a perfect counter nevertheless
  • The Reapers – Though not as good as Hellions, but they are still pretty decent with their 18 damage versus light units.
  • Employ the Hellion – The Protoss Sentries are generally hiding behind a wall of zealots and other units, providing support with Guardian Shield. Hellion can quickly go around the front line and make a quick work of sentries, especially with their bonus against light units.

Those are just some of the techniques and tips. There are more regularly updated advanced strategies…

How to Counter the Protoss Colossus – Starcraft 2 Terran Strategies

The Protoss Colossus is one of the best Protoss units. So what is the Protoss Colossus? The Colossus is a new Protoss unit which is very powerful and effective against light ground units. It has a very large range and deals splash damage, hits multiple targets at once, allowing it to pick off groups of ground units from afar. The same as the Protoss Immortal, the Colossus can only hit enemies on the ground. Since it deals splash damage, it is most effective once there are several Colossi.

The Protoss Colossus is extremely powerful against massed units, since its attacks deal damage in a line, sweeping across firing lines to do damage to several enemy units at once. This makes it devastating against tier 1 and tier 1.5 units like Marauders, Stalkers, Marines, Hydralisks, and Roaches, and it is also deadly to Zerglings, Zealots and other close range units if you have your own wall of units to provide support and keep enemies at bay. If your opponent is massing ground, the Colossus is never a bad choice, unless teching to it will put you behind.

It is deadly against the popular Terran Marines and Marauders build, as well as the common Roach and Hydralisk heavy build that Zerg often favor. Researching Extended Thermal Lances makes the Colossus even more powerful, allowing it to outrange most units and deal heavy damage from afar, increasing its effectiveness greatly – if you have the resources, strongly consider getting this upgrade.

  • Deploy Your Siege Tanks – They have superior range and big damage is exactly what you need against the Colossus. In Siege Mode, tanks severely outgun a Colossus.
  • The Viking – Tired of seeing this unit at the top? Vikings not only deal a spanking 28 damage vs Colossus, but they also can’t be hit back from them. They don’t have to go through the swarm of zealots, stalkers and company that you generally find in front of a Colossus.
  • Use the Marauders – With +10 damage versus armored, bringing the damage per attack to 20. Just make sure to spread your Marauders well so that they do not all get caught by the Colossus’ beams at the same time.
  • Fly Your Banshee – Though not as good as Vikings, but they also do pretty much decent damage (24) against the Colossus, and they can’t be hit back by them as well.

Those are a few techniques that you can employ. There are more tips and more regularly updated strategies…
