Best Protoss Counters against Terran Rush – How to Stop Early Terran Push Shokz Starcraft 2 Strategies Terran Strategies

As of now, I’ve been playing as protoss. Against terran, I was having a hard time against a computer with AI set to Insane. Playing it at lower levels is just not an option for me. Well, at first, I found it hard, of course. haha. Those MM, Marines with Marauders during early game are quite a push.

;

At first, I started just rushing with zealots & using a proxy pylon, like when I’m playing against zerg. That was a failure. M&M, and with medivacs is a tough combination. When they attack, it seems I don’t have enough units to stop them with. I found out that I just have to turtle and wait for terran to come, and defend the choke point, or the entry point of my base.

;

Sentry Force Field - If you are indeed against MM, then you should go immortal, sentries, and zealots. This is also a solid group. Use Force Field ability of Sentry to half your oponent’s army by placing it strategically on the base, of the ramp of the entrance to your base. Use your forces to destroy those units that were cut off, and make it to your base. Just repeat this until you are able to tech up and build immortals and colossus. But also, but if terran has ghost, you can lose the immortals, so go colossus, with stalkers.

;

This works well if done properly, but many people just find this complicated to come up with such a high-end tech solution with a bund of low tier units from terran. Bad for protoss.

;

Zealot Charge + Void Ray - If you’re gonna go with some zealots, please do research zealot charge as soon as possible. This will make a huge difference in the effectiveness of zealots against M&M. Quickly build 2 gateways to get your zealot production up. you can also build 2-3 sentries for guardian shield, and some 2-3 stalkers. Then you can tech up fast to warp game so you can build 4-5 void rays. Use your current current to defend against the first terran rush & push, and also make sure to activate guardian shield from sentries.

;

Also, if you see banshees, build a couple of observers, and some phoenixes.

;

After the initial terran push, wait till you have void rays, and do attack. Use your zealots as meat shields, and keep your void rays safe. But please also do scout often, so you might also know what your terran opponent is building, and counter accordingly.

Protoss vs Terran Strategy – Countering the Battlecruisers & The Best Strategies To Stop These

Looking on the best counters of battlecruisers using Protoss? Below are some details.

These Protoss Units won’t work :

  • Pheonixes. Not meant to fight heavy air targets
  • Carriers. Low HP / shields, weak armor. Potentially more expensive than BC’s, and can’t even meet their damage output on an individual target basis. Carriers are meant to counter masses of units and overwhelm static defenses.

Battlecruisers need to be overwhelmed to beat. Since they take quite literally the whole terran tech tree to get you also need to think on that scale

Protoss Battlecruiser Counter Units :

  • Sentry’s guardian shield – Reduces BC DPS by a great deal
  • High Templar’s Feed back – Can instantly deal great damage to a BC
  • Void ray – counter to the BC, when fully charged

Void rays seemed to tear battlecruisers assuming there weren’t other units to kill the void rays. This is a soft counter against the Battlecruiser; it does well versus Battlecruisers but the fight is certainly not in great favor of the Void Rays.

The best protoss hard counters for Battlecruiser:

Protoss players have the toughest time against Battlecruisers. They actually do best by combining units like the Stalker or Void Ray with the Sentry. The Sentry’s Guardian Shield ability significantly reduces Battlecruiser damage, making air units practically impervious to the Battlecruiser’s attack.

Countering Banshees with Protoss – Best Way On How to Counter Banshee Strategies Guide

Looking on Protoss Banshees Counters? You will find below some information on countering them.

About Banshees :

They can quickly destroy buildings, even powering through anti-air defenses. Other races may deploy specialized anti-air units like corruptors and phoenixes to keep them in check. Ground unit counters include marines, thors, hydralisks, stalkers equipped with blink and high templar psionic storms. Banshees bank on turns like some other air units.

It’s going to sound crazy but stalker/high templar will work wonders. Stalkers will be able to wreck Vikings if your enemy builds these, and HTs can Feedback the banshees for massive damage. Just spam feedback on every banshee in sight and they will take massive damage, and be unable to cloak.

Blink micro is good against air, especially SLOW air like banshees. Toss in a few shoot-on-the-run Pheonix’ and you’ll own early game/mid game air.

Here are descriptions of Protoss Anti-Banshees Units:

  • Stalker – Beats Banshees by far on a cost basis, but requires detection
  • High Templar’s Feed back – Can instantly kill or damage a banshee, and prevents a banshee from cloaking
  • Phoenix – Absolutely destroys defenseless banshees, but requires detection

Best Protoss Counters against Vikings – How To Counter & Defeat Viking Strategies

Looking on Countering or on how to stop Vikings with Protoss? Below are some information.

The viking is produced from the starport. Due to their high speed and long range vikings are effective at fighting slower enemy units like battlecruisers using hit and run tactics to avoid counterattacks. Vikings are useful for raiding worker lines due to their ability to quickly infiltrate and escape bases.

Corruptors are not meant to fight Vikings. Both units are made to fight the strong air units like the BCs and the Carrier, but one has a bonus to massive and the other to armored, and almost all (if not all) massive air units are also armored, so the Viking is strong against more air units than the Corruptor.
There is no doubt, vikings absolutely rape air units. So in terms of just air units, there is no direct Protoss counter to the Viking. Phoenixes can’t attack ground units, so the Vikings can just switch to ground mode, if they encounter them. But they can still graviton beam them i guess.

Stalkers, with fully upgraded damage, preferably can stop vikings, and blink helps too, but those vikings can fly away fairly quickly.

I am going to go best with the Void Ray, it has good range and with FLux Vanes upgrade will kill most large units quickly. Also, the Viking’s ‘massive’ attack will not kick in, even though the void ray looks like a mini star destroyer and is about the same size as the carrier..

Here are the Protoss Units Counter to Vikings :

  • Stalker – Deals high damage, and can kite land mode vikings
  • Void rays – High DPS to armored targets when fully charged, requires some micro though, and can be kited without speed upgrade
  • Immortal – Annihilates land mode vikings

Best Counter Thors with Protoss – How to Stop Thor Shokz Starcraft 2 Protoss Strategies

Looking on the best protoss counters against Thor?

The Thor is a slow moving capital mech with two primary roles: countering mass armored air units with its powerful anti-air weaponry, and absorbing massive damage by spearheading an assault. It can almost be considered a much higher variation of the old Goliath. The anti-air missiles of the Thor deals splash damage to all nearby enemy units around the target.

Thor Counter Infos :

The thor is countered by range, mobility, and certain anti-armor units. It doesn’t deal enough splash damage to effectively deal with massed units such as marines, zerglings and zealots.

For protoss, immortals make sense since immortals take 12 hits to kill a thor while thors take 8 hits to kill an immortal and probably dont attack very fast. Also, thors are a lot more expensive.

It would take 1 voidray 21 seconds to kill the thor so thats not a good counter, but with a phoenix for graviton beam, it is. And the more voidrays there are, the faster the thor will die. 3 void rays take about 8 seconds to kill a thor.

I would probably either use this combo, or zealots with charge.

Here are the Protoss Units to Counter Thors :

  • High Templar’s Feed back – Most thors will be at high energy, so feed back will usually do heavy damage
  • Zealots with charge – Can quickly get in range of Thors and make a surround to do heavy DPS
  • Void rays – High DPS to armored targets when fully charged
  • Immortal – Best tank and does heavy DPS against Thor

Best Protoss Counter vs Siege Tanks – Shokz Starcraft 2 Strategies to Countering, Anti-Tank Units

You might recently had some siege tanks sitting outside your base guarded with marines. What’s the best way to counter terran tanks?

Well personally, if I have tech to go for void rays, then go for it, but that’s not usually the case. If you see terran building multiple siege, get stalkers with blink upgrade. A small group of stalkers blinking right up next to siege tank is good (plus if your stalkers are close enough the siege will friendly fire his own units especially those ground forces running back to attack stalkers), and if you time the blink right you can dodge a siege attack.

If the tanks are forced to retreat, get some good damage on their probe line. While they are recovering from that attack, throw up Dark Shrine and harass with DTs splitting them up, attacking his army and probe line so he has to retreat back again while getting blown up so he can try to get all you DTs in 1 scan. While your opponent is dealing with all that, expand out and grab your 2nd base, assuming you haven’t already won, and begin preparing for a long game of macro as he begins to turtle, but it doesn’t usually go that far.

Now for probably the Best Way in countering & stop siege tanks :

Immortals really are the easiest and best counter to siege tanks, though in mid-late game, if they have a Marine swarm to back it up you might have to worry. Throw in a few (dozen) sentinels for shield times. Usual counter measure is a simple trio of Immortals (as Seige Shot absorbers), Zealots and Sentries (w/ Gaurdian Sheild). 2 Warpgate, 1 Robo

Here are Protoss units to counter siege tanks :

  • Phoenix – Especially useful for lifting tanks in siege mode
  • Stalker with blink – Can blink on top of tanks in siege mode
  • Dark Templar – Can get in range of tanks in siege mode before noticed, and snipe them before getting scanned
  • High Templar’s Psionic storm – Tanks in siege mode can’t dodge it at all
  • Zealots with charge – Can quickly get in range of Tanks in or out of siege mode to kill them
  • Void rays – High DPS to armored targets when fully charged

Best Way in Countering Hellions with Protoss – Starcraft 2 How to Counter Hellions Strategy Guide

The Hellion is another new addition to the Terran forces, which acts as a combination of the old Firebat and Vulture in one. It’s a fast, land-based vehicle which uses fire throwers to deal AoE line damage to units. These little lethal “beach buggies” will torch large number of packed units, such as Zerglings to toast in no-time, and might even have the time to run away unharmed!

The mounted flamethrower deals an area of effect in a straight line and is ideal for taking out light armored units, from which the Hellion receives an attack bonus. Combine this with the quick speed and increased range upgrade, and the Hellion can easily perform hit and run tactics on a much slower enemy group. The Hellion is currently unable to attack air targets.
Now below are some of the best protoss units in countering hellions :
  • Sentry’s Force field and Guardian shield – FF to prevent them from kiting, guardian shield to reduce their damage
  • Phoenix – Move faster than Hellions and do bonus damage to them
  • Stalker – Take little damage and deal near full damage

Best Protoss Counter for Reapers – Shokz Starcraft 2 Strategies to Stop Terran, Anti-Reaper Units

Isn’t this annoying? When in early game, all you have are zealots then all of a sudden 5 reapers come in my back and start shooting at my probes. If you send your zealots over there, the reapers just jump off the cliff, disapear, and seconds later, they’re back in your base in some other corner harrassing the crap out of everything. Zealots are slow to catch them.
Now here are some ways to counter them :

You want to be looking at a 1-gate cybernetics build where your cybernetics core finishes around the same time as your first or second zealot allowing you to immediately get a stalker or two. Your first scout should give you a clue – if he’s going for reapers he’ll be trying to finish his first refinery at the same time as his barracks to rush them but that’s not always conclusive. Your best bet is to send a second probe about a minute after your first one is forced off by his initial marine and send it up the ramp, chances are the terran will have his units behind his wall and you will see them before your probe dies.
If you see reapers you get a couple of stalkers (by this stage you should have at least two warp gates) if you see marauders then chances are reapers won’t be coming at you. Having a couple of stalkers on your probe lines really shuts down reapers as they suck vs stalkers and have very low hp.
If you do have a bunch of zealots, then just plant them at the edge of the cliff. If the enemy player is stupid enough to jump back up in the same spot, the Zealots will be there to greet them. The enemy player won’t have vision once they jump off, and I’ve seen way too many players jump back up the same place they jumped down.

Here are other good ways for protoss counter of reapers :

  • Sentry’s Force field and Guardian shield – FF to prevent them from kiting, guardian shield to reduce their damage, See video guide
  • Phoenix – Move faster than Reapers and do bonus damage to them
  • Stalker – Take little damage and deal near full damage

Effective Counters to Mass Marines with Protoss – Starcraft 2 Strategies Guide on How to Stop Marines

Looking on how to Counter Mass Marines with Protoss? You will find some info below.

The Marine is very similar in both StarCraft and StarCraft II, but in addition to previous upgrades and abilities, they can now also get a combat shield to increase their total hit points. This is a unit that can be used throughout any StarCraft Game, used in different ways depending on where the player is in the tech tree. Combining Marines with Medics (SC1) or Medivac Dropships (SC2) will make them a long-lasting, powerful threat. Together with their StimPacks, they will tear holes in any attack force or defensive installment.

Zealot – these rip marines apart pretty much
Colossus – Highest sustained DPS
High Templar’s Psionic Storm – Best burst DPS against Marines
Dark Templar – Use along with the rest of your army if he has no Ravens, and he might not notice that you have DTs at all, and may never scan to take them out

These must be executed pretty well anyway, there’s no “easy” counter.

1) fast dt
2) speedlots
3) stalkers + probes (defend the timing attack)

5. good sentry play, you need to be able to split the terran army in half by good force field placement.

But it’s all about scouting of course(it’s not that easy of course), all depends on how much of which units the opponent does and what map you play. If you know they are going for 4 barracks, then you should go for 4 warpgates.

Top Counters Vs Terran Marauders with Protoss – Best Starcraft 2 Protoss Strategies

Are you looking for the best counter moves against the Terran marauders with Protoss units? If you are new to Starcraft 2, you would be easily beaten by Terran Marauders because Terran gamers would mass up a bunch of them to take you out really fast and really quickly.

So what are the strategies to counter Terran Marauders with Protoss units? Here are some few tips in this strategy guide…

Know that since Marauders can only shoot other ground units, it makes them very susceptible to being shot down from the air. So any air unit that can shoot at ground units will take Marauders out easily like the Banshees, Void Rays, Mutalisks, and all the capital ships but Protoss units would be the key strategy to counter them as well.

You must be very careful when fighting Terran because many of their units will take heavy hits from their grenades. Your Protoss have some units that specialize in taking down the Marauder though.

The Protoss Zealots combined with the Sentries can annihilate and decimate a small army of Marauders, they are so good against all Terran infantry. When the Marauders are upgraded with their concussive grenades, they can quickly and easily kite Zealots until charge is upgraded. But when you have a combination of Sentries and Zealots you can force field off their retreat and force them to fight the Zealots, which will tear them apart.

Use Immortals and High Templar as well because they also do a pretty good job against Marauders. Immortals can die fast to a group of them, but they do so much damage to armored units, 3 shots will kill a Marauder though. With High Templar’s Psionic Storm, you can also really hurt a group of Marauders and wear them down, but because of their large size it isn’t as effective. Also many gamers will stim to get out of the storm, which does do an automatic 20 damage to the Terran Marauders.

Those are only a few tips on how to counter the Terran Marauders using Protoss units. There are more advanced Protoss strategies and techniques found in this guide…

For advanced and secret strategies & techniques, I recommend checking out the guide below:
