Best Terran Strategy To Counter High Templar – Shokz Starcraft 2 Anti-Templars & Counters
The Protoss High Templar Unit is focused mainly on creating psionic attacks – similar to spell casting in Warcraft – rather than on conventional attacks. They are neither melee nor range attackers. The main attacks of the Protoss High Templar are psionic attacks and are area-of-effect attacks as well. Skilled Protoss players use the High Templar as support units for their other units carrying more conventional attacks. Additionally, High Templars can also be very devastating and are often a potent counter to the Terran Ghost unit.
Although Protoss High Templars are quite considerable in the battle field as damage dealing units, they are not very well equipped when it comes to defense. It is basically suicide for High Templars to take to the field on their own and they are usually used as support units where their talents are best used. Thus, when you see High Templars attacking, they are usually accompanied by a number of other Protoss units.
As a Terran player, the best counter against a Protoss High Templar is the Terran Ghost. The EMP attack of the Ghost completely drains the energy and shield of a Protoss High Templar. This is important because, with enough energy, a High Templar can cast Feedback on a Terran Ghost, causing both energy depletion and damage dealing. Feedback deals one damage to the Ghost per unit of energy depleted. This can certainly complicate things, especially if the Ghost is not in great shape to begin with.
If the Terran Ghost is able to successfully EMP a Protoss High Templar, two normal attacks from the Ghost – dealing 20 damage per attack – ought to remove the High Templar from the field of battle.
If, however you do not have a Ghost unit handy and you need to take care of a High Templar, do not make the mistake of sending in your Marines. High Templars are especially good at dispatching Marines en masse using ther Psionic Storm. If you want to attack with a unit other than a Ghost, your best bet is the Hellion. Terran Hellions are very mobile, allowing them to get out of the way of High Templar attacks. Remember to scatter your units if a Psionic Storm is cast. A Terran Hellion is also carrying enough HP to survive a Psionic Storm. If their HP is already depleted at the outset however, chances are high that you are going to lose your Hellion unit.
