Best Counters Vs Zerg Zerglings – Top Protoss Strategies Guide
First off, know that fighting Zerglings using your Protoss in an open field is always going to be really hard and difficult. Your best bet and best chance would be to narrow them and lead them down in a small path or lane for instance, between buildings. Zerglings can crash your early expansion. So how can you defeat and what are your best options to counter the Zerglings?
Here are few Starcraft 2 Protoss strategies that could prove useful to counter Zerglings in a Protoss vs Zerg match up game.
- Deploy your Zealots
Using your Protoss unites for nuke-types, Zealots are best for tanking so that other units can deal damage as they tank. A good idea would be to fight in a narrow passage like a choke point at your base. If you go for a weapon upgrade, then Zealot will be take out Zerglings in two shots rather than three. - The High Templar
This one is really effective. They can help counter a group of Zerglings in just 2 seconds using Psionic Storm. Your enemy then won’t even have a chance to back up their Zerglings. However, never send them alone. Use a few Zealots to tank the Zerglings while High Templars finish them off with Psionic Storm. - Archon
The Archon’s deal 35 damage against bio-units. This is the exact strategy required to kill Zerlings in one shot. Plus, the damage is splash or area-of-effect type. Again, team them up with few Zealots to tank while they attack. - The Photon Cannon
You just need 2 shots to kill Zergling. It’s a very good strategy to use them against Zerglings that rush early to harass you while you are expanding. Have them block choke points accompanied by 3-4 Zealots and Zerglings won’t be able to get through. - Use the Colossus
The Colossus are really efficient and quick when it comes to killing Zerglings fast and easy. But they are good at dealing damage and not taking them. So you must have a wall of Zealot to tank and attack with your Colossus.
Those are just some of the techniques to counter the Zerglings using your Protoss. However, the advanced techniques and more updated strategies are here in this guide…
