In StarCraft II, the roaches of zerg are very strong. They have the potency to damage severely. More so, they have also the unique capability to regenerate. The Queens produce large amount of larva in the initial stages of the game due to which Zerg Roaches pose a serious threat if not dealt deftly.

Firstly, the Zerg Roaches can regenerate in burrows. Roaches have a very high HP count of 145. It has also a high damage value. Primarily it is an armoured- class Zerg. The weak links of Roaches are that, they are slow while in motion. They have a very short range and are unable to attack air units. Though the roaches are not that intimidating at first sight yet they are at times deceptive and can deal heavy blows to your plans. In order to counter a Roach rush a Cybernetics Core must be created along with a Gateway, cannon and Pylon close to your entrance or choke-point.

There must be just enough space to allow a couple of units of Stalkers and Sentries to block the passage in the wall. If while scouting you discover that Zergs are making Roaches then the idea of building Zealots should be discarded straight away, since Zealots turn out to be the weak links during direct confrontation with the Roaches. Immortals are most effective while dealing Roaches. They can be positioned behind the stalkers and shoot over them. The Immortals serve as an effective counter foil for the Zerg Roaches since they can deal with a good handful of Roaches and finish them off with minimal fuss.

During the Roach Rush, force field ability of the sentries can be used to block the passage of the base. Stalkers can attack the Roaches from behind the Force Field and kill them without much difficulty. It is vital to install some Robotic facilities during the passive phase and create some Immortals. Immortals deal with the Roaches most efficiently. They can induce large amount of bonus damage on the Zerg Roaches, since it can kill a Roach in just two shots. A few Immortals, Sentries and Stalkers can be a winning formula in this setup. At times getting an observer is a good thought since during these strategies it is better to know what units you may face up against from beforehand.
